Abstract

Health status of the child and the level of education of the mother in the presence of iron deficiency anemia in children from 6 to 59 months of age, in Peru Abstract: The objective of this work is to determine if the presence of iron deficiency anemia in children from 6 to 59 months of age in Peru is associated with the child’s health status and the mother’s level of education. A non-experimental cross-sectional research design was used, data from the Demographic and Family Health Survey [7], from the logistic regression analysis a model was obtained that explains the presence of anemia with a probability of success of 70,1 %, considering the variables: lactation period, weight, height, acute diarrheal disease (ADD), complete vaccinations and mother’s education. Not having complete vaccinations increases the probability of having anemia 1,168 times more than those who had a vaccine, for each additional month of breastfeeding the probability of having anemia is reduced by 2,15 %, if you had acute respiratory infection or ADD the probability of having anemia It is 1,125 and 1,578 times more than those who did not have anemia, a higher educational level of the mother, a lower probability of the presence of anemia.
