Efectos adversos del blanqueamiento dentario

El blanqueamiento de los dientes es un tratamiento practicado desde hace mucho tiempo, sin embargo sus técnicas han evolucionado notablemente en las últimas décadas. Desde el punto de vista histórico, las técnicas de blanqueamiento del siglo XIX, Heyman (1864) empleó una combinación de hidrocloruro de calcio y ácido acético. El cloro que se liberaba producía el blanqueamiento, a partir de entonces se ensayaron otras sustancias blanqueadoras como: cloruro de aluminio, ácido oxálico, éter-peróxido-dióxido de hidrógeno, peróxido de sodio, ácido sulfuroso, etc. Los efectos adversos de estos productos en los dientes y tejidos de soporte hicieron que las técnicas de blanqueamiento cayeran en el olvido.Downloads
