Abstract

The primary objective of this study proves that the use of the GeoGebra software under the representation register semiotic approach when used with problem solving quadratic functions with an experimental group of 4th grade students of secondary education significantly exceeds traditional problem solving methods compared to students of the control group called Fe y Alegria Educational Institution No. 32. The research design is quasi experimental with a pre and post-test. The same method was applied to one experimental group and one control group. Thirty students participated in each group. The results using the GeoGebra software under the representation register semiotic approach in learning problem solving on quadratic functions determines a measurable difference of 2.77 on the output test of the experimental group compared to the control group. With respect to the analysis of the measurement of the hypotheses specifically, 1,2, 3 and 4 establish increases with 3.983, 2.29, 2.166 and 2.633 points. This information proves that the use of the software GeoGebra and the register of semiotic representation (RSR) approach significantly improves the level of learning to problem solve quadratic functions.
