This research describes the strategies implemented by the teachers of the UNED, Costa Rica regarding the measures taken due to the health emergency caused by COVID-19. It is a quantitative study developed under a descriptive design where a questionnaire was applied in Lime Survey©, with the participation of 148 volunteer subjects and it was considered among the objectives, to assess the actions arising as preventive measures, the changes in academic processes as a result of the actions taken and the teachers’ perception of the changes implemented. The results made it possible to study the reorganization of the educational process, which demanded, among other efforts, an accompaniment in the digitization of written tests, the development of effective synchronous activities and the optimization of response times for their follow-up. It is important to indicate that probably many of these changes will continue to occur in daily practice and should be part of the training of teachers in the use and application of online resources. The article is the product of the study called “Perception of the UNED faculty in the face of changes produced by contingency measures as a result of the health emergency caused by COVID-19” carried out at the UNED in Costa Rica.
