Abstract

In the current educational context, characterized by its dynamism and globalization, Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) stand out as vital for the development and improvement of educational management. This article reviews recent literature to establish how PLCs can concretize effective management practices, with a particular focus on the role of the principal as a leader in this process. Using a document review methodology based on a systematic search of academic sources, 30 articles published between 2020 and 2023 were analyzed, including 17 of them for specific relevance. The results indicate that PLCs are effective in improving collaboration, teacher professional development and teaching quality, highlighting the importance of adaptive and culturally sensitive managerial leadership that is formed in collaborative spaces. Challenges identified include the need for structural support and role clarity during educational change. The conclusion highlights the relevance of PLCs in forming strategic alliances and implementing actions to respond to the needs of each educational context, emphasizing continuous improvement and collaboration as central axes.
