Abstract

La familia Verbenaceae es reconocida en el Perú por presentar 23 géneros y 201 especies (Brako & Zarucchi, 1993; Ulloa Ulloa et al., 2004), entre arbustos, árboles y hierbas, además de lianas y bejucos. En este trabajo reconocemos 38 especies y 16 variedades como endemismos en 12 géneros. Aegiphila, Citharexylum y Verbena son los géneros más ricos en especies. Los taxones endémicos han sido encontrados principalmente en las regiones Mesoandina y Matorral Desértico, entre los 1000 y 3500 m de altitud. Se aplicaron las categorías y criterios de la UICN a 17 taxones. Ningún taxón se encuentra representado dentro del Sistema Nacional de Áreas Naturales Protegidas por el Estado.
