Abstract

The Commelinaceae are recognized in Peru with 11 genera and 46 species of herbaceous plants (Brako & Zarucchi, 1993; Ulloa Ulloa et al., 2004). Here we recognize three endemic taxa in two genera. The endemic taxa are found in the Humid Amazonian Forest region, between 100 and 500 m elevation. Neither of the species is represented within Peru’s protected area system.
