Precisamente porque ya en el último tercio del siglo XIX se habrá reconocido la necesidad de contar con profesionales calificados en la especialidad, por ley del 7 de abril de 1875 se llegó a la creación, en la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, de la Facultad de Ciencias Políticas y Administrativas. división académica de la cual nuestra Facultad de Ciencias Administrativas es legítima sucesora. En 1920, después de cuarenta y cinco años de apreciable y servicio al país dentro de la consistencia y fines con que fuera creada. se transformó su orientación. al compás de la Importancia que iba adquiriendo la Economía, razón por la cual su estructura académica incluyó una especialidad en tal disciplina. Todo ello motivó también que se modificara su nombre, que desde entonces pasó a ser Facultad de Ciencias Políticas y Económicas.
