El neoliberalismo es una teoría política y económica que se encuentra a favor de reducir la intervención del estado en la economía. Reconoce el valor individual y aboga por el cosmopolitismo social. Además, apoya la globalización como un generador de beneficios mediante el comercio internacional. Esta teoría inició su auge en la década de 1970, tras la imposibilidad del keynesianismo para hallar una solución al problema de ralentización económica que enfrento el mundo.
