This article focuses on the study of the appliqué found in the archaeological site of Marcavalle, an early settlement (1100 - 700 BCE) located at the Huatanay Valley, in Cusco, Perú. The research on this material was carried out on a sample excavated at the site in 2013, from which a functional classification is made, and the structural and formal characteristics of this series of artifacts are established. The results are discussed based on comparative, chronological and provenance parameters, with the aim of establishing propositions for the contextual consideration of the material. We concluded that the appliqué are a genuine characteristic art expression of the earliest occupation of Cusco and a standard brand for the production and ceramic decoration in the southern part of ancient Peru.
