Este es un importante libro editado por dos arqueólogos ayacuchanos de la Universidad San Cristóbal de Huamanga, quienes lideran las investigaciones de lo Wari desde la zona nuclear de dicha sociedad. José Ochatoma y Martha Cabrera nos presentan evidencias sobre arquitectura y materialidad que apoya la noción de la ciudad de Huari como la capital de una importante entidad política. Pero ¿qué fue Wari? Este libro mantiene esta pregunta a lo largo de sus páginas. En la presentación de Ochatoma ofrece algunos elementos de la discusión clásica sobre Wari, pero los editores encargan a Peter Kaulicke para que, al final, trate de sintetizar y plantear un escenario sobre la base del material aquí reunido y sus propias ideas. Y como Peter Kaulicke, después de unos breves comentarios dejaré las preguntas de fondo a la luz de tales nuevas investigaciones.
