¿Sabéis quién es Mariátegui? Es la pregunta de Henri Barbusse que nos interpela y cuestiona desde la tumba del Amauta. El historiador Paulo Drinot la retoma y, partiendo de los campos de la historia de la salud, ya visitados en sus trabajos anteriores, ofrece nuevas luces sobre José Carlos Mariátegui, el padre del socialismo peruano, desde una mirada necesaria: su discapacidad física. Su figura ha sido tan poderosa que le ha valido la creación de un ismo, la inclusión de su apellido en el nombre de un partido político en la década de los 80s y decenas, sino cientos de representaciones artísticas, tanto gráficas como plásticas.
