Abstract

The article revolves around the evolution of one of the most relevant national heritages, the Torre Tagle house, and its relationship with the history of Lima. Through this linkage, it is possible to study several aspects of what happened in the capital from the eighteenth to the twentieth century, such as the type of materials used at the time for the construction of houses; the seizure of the property of those who were on the side of the royalist cause, in the context of independence; the significance of the purchase of the estate by the Peruvian State in 1918 and the impulse of a sector of society to preserve the cultural legacy; and finally, the process of restoration through which it passed in 1955. The use of images shows how the façade of the building has changed up to the present day.
