Abstract

This paper focuses on the history of the Intendancy Documentary Fund, which is preserved in the Regional Archive of Cusco, on its evolution during the second half of the 20th Century, and on its use by the Andean historiography. To achieve this, we analyzed the inventories of this documentary collection since the time of its creation up to the present time when a catalog was prepared by a recent research project. We also contrasted this information with the historiographic production on the Intendancy of Cusco (1784-1824). We demonstrate that each improvement and refinement in archival organization has entailed the visibility of documentation that contributes to deepening and making more complex the existing historiography about Cusco and Southern Andean region.
