Abstract

The purpose of the research was to determine the psychometric evidence of the Aggression Questionnaire, short form (AQ-SF). Adolescents aged 12 to 17 years participated and were divided into two groups [n1 = 332 (Mage = 14.08, SDage = 1.30, from 12 to 14 years old = 61.4 %, females = 55.4 %) and n2 = 336 (Mage= 14.07, SDage = 1.31, from 12 to 14 years old = 62.5 %, females = 56 %).  The AQ-SF was found to have evidence of validity based on internal structure and equity by sex and age, but has unacceptable reliability in the verbal aggression and anger dimensions. In contrast, the proposed version of the AQ-SF (AQ-SFb), in addition to the evidence of validity and equity, has evidence of reliability by dimensions, especially in a format of six response options. Finally, it is concluded that the proposed version (AQ-SFb) has more psychometric evidence than the AQ-SF in Peruvian adolescents.
