Authorship, Co-authorship and ethics

Arqueología y Sociedad understands the importance and responsibility of publishing scientific research articles. In Arqueología y Sociedad, the papers received go through a process in which authors, editors and reviewers are involved. Arqueología y Sociedad ensures that the information provided in the articles is accurate and reliable, as well as the rights of those involved, good behavior and good procedures are preserved. For this, Arqueología y Sociedad follows the Code of Ethics in Research of the UNMSM and the norms and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) [http://publicationethics.org/] and the Principles of transparency and good practices in academic publishing http://publicationethics.org/resources/guidelines-new/principles-transparency-and-best-practice-scholarly-publishing. This does not exclude compliance with Peruvian regulations regarding scientific research, such as legal regulations on copyright, open access, protection of national heritage and other regulations related to the topics of our journal.

Authorship of published works in our journal is based on substantial contribution to the design, data collection, analysis, and writing of the work. All authors must comply with ethical principles in conducting research and presenting their findings. Co-authorship must be based on substantial collaboration throughout the research process.

Plagiarism and self-plagiarism

Arqueología y Sociedad considers plagiarism as a fraud in the publication, and is defined as the appropriation of the ideas, processes, results or words of another person without giving the corresponding credit. Fraud and misconduct are also understood to be manufacturing (invention of data or results), and falsification (manipulation of research materials, equipment, processes to alter data or results, as well as the change or omission of data or results ).
Arqueología y Sociedad does not tolerate plagiarism, fraud, or misconduct, for which it establishes mechanisms to avoid and remedy it:

  1. During the editorial process, Arqueología y Sociedad prevents the publication of plagiarism, fraud and misconduct using peer opinion and proofreading using the anti-plagiarism software TURNITIN, with a tolerance of 10% of textual similarities.
  2. Arqueología y Sociedad includes within plagiarism the recycling of texts or self-plagiarism.
  3. Arqueología y Sociedad after its publication, if it detects or is alerted and confirms cases of plagiarism, fraud or misconduct, it will proceed according to the guidelines and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE - http: //publicationethics.org/) being able to execute the retraction of the article.

Freedom of expression

Arqueología y Sociedad support and promote freedom of expression in academic research and publication. We welcome diverse perspectives and encourage open dialogue and constructive criticism,

Retractions, corrections, and expressions of concern

Arqueología y Sociedad have policies and procedures in place for retracting, correcting, or issuing expressions of concern about articles that are found to contain errors, misconduct, or other issues that compromise their accuracy or integrity,

Data and Image manipulation

Arqueología y Sociedad require authors to provide original data and images that have not been manipulated or altered in any way that could compromise their accuracy or integrity. We use software tools to detect any instances of data or image manipulation.

Transparency

All authors must provide clear and accurate information about their research methods
and data analysis. In addition, the editors of our journal will ensure transparency in the
article review and selection process.

Digital preservation and integrity of the record

Arqueología y Sociedad is committed to ensuring the long-term digital preservation of all published
articles. In addition, the integrity of the record will be ensured by publishing corrections
and updates when necessary.
