Personological profile of the clinical psychology student from the cultural-historical approach

The purpose of this work was to characterize the personological profile of the student of Clinical Psychology of the Technical University of Machala (UTMACH) from the cultural-historical approach. These personality characteristics were obtained by means of a qualitative, descriptive study of phenomenological design, with the application of a survey for the screening of the participants and semi-structured interviews with the selected sample. Each interview was transcribed by coding the personality characteristics, which were analyzed by category and subcategory, using systematic analysis. Informed consent was provided for the interviews to guarantee the academic purposes of the data obtained. The sample was selected by convenience after carrying out the survey in which their answers were between moderate and little, 16 participants were chosen of which 3 decided not to participate. Six personality categories were determined. 1. Motivation: a) self-motivation, b) family influence, c) motivation by teachers or professionals. 2. Coherence: a) comprehensibility and b) manageability. 3. Self-efficacy: a) self-determination, b) adaptability, and c) self-perception of achievement. 4. Attachment: a) sense of belonging to the group. 5. Resilience: a) resistance and b) construction 6. Professional project: a) professional specializations and b) personal growth. In conclusion students have developed these characteristics based on their academic experiences, which can be influenced by internal factors (desires, goals, objectives) and external factors (family, friends, teachers, classmates, environment) as mentioned in the cultural-historical approach.
